DANISH WEST INDIES. Den Dansk Vestindiske National Bank. 20 Franc, 1905. P-19a.
A real show stopper of a note, as this denomination simply does not turn up in any grade. This 20 Francs note is the first this cataloger has seen, and only the second we have heard about in a Very Fine grade or better. The other was a serial number one example, sold by Stacks years ago for over $50,000. The present example is found with still illuminating detail of the early BWC design, with only a few minor restorations in the margins observed under heavy scrutiny. Still lovely under-printed color along with solid manuscript signatures. Elaborate back design with countryside vignettes and scroll at right providing a watermark field. Certainly an item that will be a pillar in any collection it enters. PCGS Very Fine 20 Apparent. Minor Restorations.
