FINLAND. Finlands Bank. 1000 Markkaa, 1918. P-41.
This note is one that will certainly be a highlight of the world banknote section, as it is a type seldom seen in any state of preservation. It is the highest denomination for the 1918 issue and is just the second we have had the pleasure to handle. The large format design is seen with an intricate engraving, featuring two men standing holding a caduceus at center, with large tree in the background. Back with ornate bordering design showing text within, and large central vignette of tree leaves with trunk at center and island in background. The overall quality is stunning with perfectly original paper throughout, and centering and margins that help confirm the lofty grade assigned by PMG. This note is consecutive to another we sold in our January 2013 NYINC sale which brought an impressive $12,925 as lot 3208. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
