GREAT BRITAIN. 5 Pounds "Una & the Lion", 1839. PCGS Genuine--Repaired, Unc Details Secure Holder.
Fr-386; S-3851; KM-742; Wilson & Rasmussen-279. Young head of Victoria left, hair bound in two fillets, five full scrolls in the fore with nine leaves on the rear; Reverse: Lion walking beside Queen Victoria, as Una, in full coronation regalia. Listed as a rarity-2 in W&R (VERY RARE). Designed by William Wyon and considered by many to be the most beautiful of all English coins. Wyon's inspiration for the design derives from Edmund Spenser's epic poem "The Faerie Queene", first published in 1590. The surfaces reveal some hairlines and smoothing but it remains a true British numismatic rarity. An affordable example of this classic world type. PCGS PR Genuine--Repaired, Unc Details Secure Holder.
