ACHAEMENID PERSIA. Darius I-Xerxes I (ca. 505-480 BC). AV sixth-daric (7mm, 1.38 gm). NGC Choice Fine 4/5 - 5/5. Lydo-Milesian standard, Sardes, ca. 505-480 BC. Persian king or hero, wearing cidaris and candys, quiver over shoulder, in kneeling-running stance right, drawing back bow and preparing to shoot arrow / Irregular rectangular incuse punch. Seemingly unlisted in standard references. Carradice Type II. Cf. Sunrise 20 (1/12 daric). BMC -, cf. 184 (same). Extremely rare, no examples in sales archives and only example graded by NGC.
