THRACE. Lysimacheia. Circa 309-220 BC. AE (Bronze, 23 mm, 13.76 g, 9 h), struck probably before 279. Diademed head of Lysimachos to right. Rev. ΛΥΣΙ - ΜΑΧΕΩΝ Lion leaping to right; below, AP monogram. HGC 3.2 1496. SNG Copenhagen 899-900. Rare. The only portrait of Lysimachos on coinage! Encrustations and minor corrosion, otherwise, very fine.

This issue was most probably struck during the lifetime of the king, or during the short period afterward when the city was under the rule of Ptolemy Keraunos (281-279 BC).
