GUATEMALA. KM# 77.7 – 8 Reales (1838) Guatemala, Tipo I, XF.- Contramarca de primer tipo; sol saliendo al costado izquierdo del cerro, fuertemente aplicada sobre el reverso de un 8 Reales (1706-1713) Mo J (KM# 47, A&C# 1392-1400), pieza huésped en calidad VF, resello en XF. Bastante atractivo por la inusual forma alargada del cospel que permite distinguir gran parte del escudo y cruz, consigo buena parte de la leyenda siendo perceptible el ordinal del rey en anverso, perforación habitual en un extremo, uniforme pátina oscura, 26.21 gramos

First type countermark; sun rising on the left side of the hill, strongly applied on the reverse of an 8 Reales (1706-1713) Mo J (KM# 47, A&C# 1392-1400), host piece in VF quality, Counterstamp in XF. Quite attractive for the unusual elongated shape of the blank which allows much of the shield and cross to be distinguished, with much of the legend being visible with the king's ordinal on obverse, usual perforation at one end, uniform dark patina, 26.21 grams.
