KM# UNCAT (A&C# UNCAT) – 8 Reales (Sin fechar) Morelos. FALSA DE ÉPOCA. F.- Vaciado en cobre tomando como base para el molde una pieza de 1809 Mo TH (KM# 110, A&C# 1308) con resello de Morelos de tipo A en anverso. La totalidad de la pieza y consigo el resello, exhibe una fina y uniforme porosidad a causa del fundido, las fisuras y protuberancias del lado contrario al resello tienen el mismo aspecto, además, el resello no termina de desvanecer la fecha en la parte más exterior como si ocurriría al golpearse con un punzón, muy tenues vestigios del cordón colonial en canto, visible solo en ciertos sectores, fisura del cospel cercana al borde, pequeños cortes al nivel de "REX" que bien pudieran ser imitación del limado habitual.
Este es el primer ejemplar que hemos observado con estas características, probablemente fabricado en décadas posteriores a la Guerra de Independencia o quizás realizada por necesidad de alguna tropa o general afín a Morelos en un momento donde no se contaba con plata ni troqueles ni punzones disponibles para acuñar o resellar como bien sucede con algunas variedades en específico de moneda "SUD". Sírvase revisar los ejemplares ofrecidos por Aureo & Calicó, Subasta 357, Lote 1750 (16 de Diciembre, 2020) y Stack's Bowers, Collector's Choice, Lote 70246 (31 de Noviembre, 2023), ambos con exactamente el mismo resello en combinación con Chilpancingo y sobre huéspedes fundidos en plata de baja ley. Copper cast from a 1809 Mo TH (KM# 110, A&C# 1308) with type A Morelos counterstamp on obverse. The whole piece, including the Counterstamp, exhibits a fine and uniform porosity due to the casting, the cracks and protuberances on the opposite side of the planchet have the same aspect, in addition, the Counterstamp does not finish vanishing the date in the external part as it would happen when struck with a punch, very faint traces of the colonial cord in edge, visible only in certain sectors, crack of the planchet near the edge, small cuts at the level of "REX" that could well have been an imitation of the usual filing.
This is the first specimen we have observed with these characteristics, probably manufactured in decades after the War of Independence or perhaps made by need of a troop or general related to Morelos at a time when there was no silver or dies or punches available to strike or stamp as happens with some specific varieties of "SUD" coinage. Please review the specimens offered by Aureo & Calico, Auction 357, Lot 1750 (December 16, 2020) and Stack's Bowers, Collector's Choice, Lot 70246 (November 31, 2023), both with the same Counterstamp in combination with Chilpancingo and on hosts cast in low grade silver. Undoubtedly extremely interesting, worthy of specialists. NO RETURNS
