Grove UNCAT – Ficha de Casino Chino (Mérida, Yucatán).- Fabricada en cospel de hueso, escrita con tinta. A finales del siglo XIX hubo migración china al estado de Yucatán derivado del "auge henequenero", asiáticos arribaron bajo contrato para trabajar en las haciendas. Muchos se asentaron en pueblos cercanos donde instalaron comercios. A principios de siglo XX se incrementó el número de chinos en la provincia, principalmente en Mérida donde existió un casino cerca de Puerto Progreso. En el anverso se observan 4 caracteres, la traducción generada por medio de software es textualmente "Solo Miembros", el símbolo que muestra por reverso refiere a una unidad monetaria, valor de la ficha, muy interesante.

Made of bone blank, written in ink. At the end of the 19th century there was Chinese migration to the state of Yucatán due to the "henequen boom", Asians arrived under contract to work on the haciendas. Many settled in nearby towns where they set up businesses. At the beginning of the 20th century the number of Chinese in the province increased, mainly in Merida where there was a casino near Puerto Progreso. On the obverse there are 4 characters, the translation generated by software is textually "Members Only", the symbol shown on the reverse refers to a monetary unit, the value of the token, very interesting.
