Alexius III. AD 1195-1203. Electrum Aspron Trachy (29,1 mm. 4,25 g). Constantinople. KE RO-HΘEΙ around, IC-XC to left and right of Christ, nimbate, seated facing on backless throne, wearing pallium and colobium, raising his right hand in benediction and holding Book of Gospels in his left. Rev. AΛEZIωC ΔεCΠ KωNTANT (or similar) Alexius III, on left, wearing crown, divitision and loros, and St. Constantine, on right, in similar attire, both standing facing, each holding a cruciform scepter and together supporting a labarum between them. DOC 2b. SB 2009. Insignificant double strike, otherwise Extremely Fine, very defined with an excellent silver with a mint luster. Very Rare in this grade.
