Early Quarters
1804 25C B-1, R.3, VF25 PCGS. Ex: Jon D. Lusk Collection. Tompkins Die State 2/2 with light obverse and reverse clash marks. Following the initial quarter dollar coinage in 1796 that featured a Small Eagle reverse, the new Heraldic Eagle type appeared in 1804 and continued through 1807. Those issued in 1804 are the scarcest of the four coinage dates. This delightful example has blue-steel toning on its antique gray surfaces with peripheral sky-blue and gold toning. From The Jon D. Lusk Collection.
