St. Kitts & Tortola Countermarked 2 Bits G4 NGC, Prid-43. A cut 1/4 segment of a Spanish Colonial 8 Reales countermarked with 3 incuse "S" (for St. Kitts, ca. 1801) and "Tirtila" type II stamp (for Tortola, ca. 1805-1824) on obv. Base coin Good, countermarks Very Fine, 5.726 grams. A charming specimen of this very scarce double island issue, with an important pedigree. Ex. Pridmore and Roehrs collections. The cataloguer could not trace this specimen to the Alexander Patterson collection despite the indication in the holder.
