Republic silvered-bronze Proof Peso Obverse & Reverse Essai Trial Strikes 1873, struck at the Paris mint, engraved by Albert Barre with a tiny A.B. below the bust on the obverse, plain edge, NGC has switched the "Obverse," and "Reverse," labeling on the holders. This is the unadopted Medellin design type of Restrepo p. 207, # 54, KM-TS7 & TS8. The obverse is KM-TS7 (although marked TS8 on the holder), and is certified PR55 NGC. The reverse is KM-TS8 (although marked TS7 on the holder), and is certified PR58 NGC. Both are boldly struck, with gray toning and moderate handling marks. Extremely rare, and the first pair we have seen of these elusive Trials.
