Orange. Raymond IV (1340-93) gold Franc à pied ND MS63 NGC, from 20 April 1365, Fr-190, Boudeau-985, Dup-2078 (under Raymond V). RAMVnDVS • DЄI | GRA : PRn : AVRIA, crowned prince standing facing with sword and scepter beneath a Gothic dais; lis in the fields to either side / + XPC ★ VINCIT ★ XPC ★ RЄGHAT ★ XPC ★ IHPЄRAT, cross fleurée, crowns and lis in angles; all within a quadrilobe, lis in spandrels. A superb example of this scarce feudal issue, lustrous and evenly struck for the type. From 1163 through 1393, the lords of Les Beaux ruled this county as "Princes," a title that would remain beyond the passing of the territory to other houses.
