Viking Coinage of York (c.895-902). Cnut Cunnetti Penny ND MS62 PCGS, York mint, S-993, North-501. + CИVT (in chrismatic form) REX, a patriarchal cross with two crosslets in angles / +CVNNETTI, small cross with two pellets. A simply fantastic specimen of this type, beautifully struck and well-preserved. The module is entirely on-flan with full upset rims and the tone is a light golden-gray with subtle hints of iridescence. Cnut and Cunetti are believed to be Knutr and Hunedeus, two Viking leaders active in Northern England at the end of the 9th century.
