William II Rufus (1087-1100) Penny 1098-c.1100 VF35 PCGS, Exeter mint, Semær? as moneyer, Cross in quatrefoil type, S-1262, North-856 (VR). PILLELM [RI], crowned bust facing with scepter in right hand and a star to the right / + [SE]MÆ[R] ON EIT, cross fleurée with a pile surmounted by a pellet in each angle. An excellent representative example of a very rare issue, weakly struck in places but well-detailed otherwise. Green deposits are noted throughout the devices.
