Edward III (1327-77) gold Noble 1356-61 AU50 NGC, London mint, Pre-Treaty Period, S-1490, North-1182. Crowned king with sword and shield standing facing in ship / Floriate cross with Є in central quadrilobe and two pellets alongside the lis above the top limb, cross potent mm. Lustrous and attractive despite light double-striking on the obverse. Die-wear has affected the obverse legends somewhat. Reddish tone clings to the surfaces and accentuates the eye-appeal.
