Guatemala
Estado de Guatemala Real 1829 NG-M VF30 NGC, Guatemala mint, KM75. 4.40gms. The history of this coin is intimately linked to the politics of this most-important Central American nation during its formative years after Spanish rule was ended. While other series indicate, "PROVISIONAL," this one precedes it with the declaration, "MONEDA," thus making it unique. The obverse is also unique in its legend, "ESTADO DE GUATEMALA." This naturally toned example is complimented by red and green hues. Nearly as nice as the Whittier XF 40 which sold for $6325 in spirited bidding. Obtained at the Baltimore ANA (1985).From The Dana Roberts Collection.
Estimate: 2000-3000 USD
