Republic Gold 8 Escudos 1866 C-CE MS61 NGC, Culiacan mint, KM383.2. Lustrous Mint State with some wispy handling marks accounting for the designation, with the overall planchet porosity and crudeness probably also contributing. The latter are nevertheless characteristical of the issue (Long: "several descriptions mention rough or granular planchets") and should not be distracting. The 1866/5 variety, identified by the large die breaks to the left of the book on the obverse.
Estimate: 1200-1500 USD
