Republic gold 8 Escudos 1841/31 Do-RM/RL MS62 NGC, Durango mint, KM383.3, Fr-68. A rather well struck Mint State coin with significant mint luster and attractive. A small flan flaw above the date is noted for accuracy. Seldom available in this designation, currently tied with another coin (listed as the 1841/30 overdate) as the highest graded example of this date. Due to the crudeness and deterioration of the dies, it is possible that the multiple overdates and over-assayer varieties reported often correspond to various states of the same die: the aforementioned coin with the 1841/30 date is most probably the Ex. Eliasberg specimen, listed as 1841/34 in the catalog of that auction.From The Law Collection
