Portuguese Colony "MR" Countermarked 8 Reales ND (1767) XF40 NGC, KM27.2. Hosted on 1766 LM-JM 8 Reales. The host 8 reales has been lightly cleaned in the past, but is better detailed than most and the "MR" stamp has been applied above the crowned globes. A long-circulating countermark that was applied to all crown-sized coinage in eastern Africa after the May 28, 1767 decree.
