Republic gold Burgers Pond 1874 AU58 NGC, KM1.1, Fr-1, Hern-B2, Coarse Beard variety. A remarkable and extremely rare example featuring the bust of Thomas Burgers, the second president of the Republic, with flagged arms above banner. Brilliantly bold with rose-gold surfaces and impeccable detail down to each one of the eagle's feathers. As a one-year type, this coarse-beard variety has a scant mintage of only 174 pieces, most of which were turned into jewelry or kept as pocket-pieces, so the fact that any remain in this designation or better is truly a rare occurrence. Absolutely beautiful in every way with lustrous, prooflike surfaces, free and clear of any distractions, save for one small obverse tick that does nothing to distract from this stunning, and highly coveted offering.
