Junta Gubernativa de Cuiaba silver jeton 1821, Extremely Fine, Lamas-112, Meili-47. XF and attractively toned. Struck in commemoration of the events of August 20, 1821 when Governor Francisco de Paula Magessi was ousted per a contemporary account "by the troops, clergy, nobility and the people" since "ambitious to the extreme, insatiable extortionist and hypocritical". He was replaced by a Governing Junta or Assembly that swore loyalty to Prince D. Pedro. Extremely rare with only 2 or 3 known (famous numismatic author K. Prober - see Revista Sociedade Numismatica Brasileira 1948, p.120, where this specimen is plated - knew of only 2 examples).
