Pedro II pair of Commemorative Medals 1842, VC-185. Obv.: bust of Prince Adalbert facing left. Rev.:legend. . Struck to commemorate the visit of Prince Adalbert of Prussia (1811-1873) who arrived at Rio de janeiro on September 5, 1842 in the frigate San Michele. Cavalcanti indicates that the medals were struck in 1845, after much delay. Two examples, ad follows: silver (XF with some handling marks, 38.5 mm, 34.68 grams) and copper (Almost Uncirculated, 38.5mm, 28 grams), both attractive pieces and rare.
