Costa Rica
Ceiba Tree Countermarked Cob 2 Reales, KM54. Host cob is almost certainly Potosi based on large lettering and seawaves plus flan thickness. Fully visible on the deep countermark is HABILITADA EN COSTA - RICA plus assayer J.B. Obverse shows REPUB DE CENT DE AMER. The central sun-over-mountains and Ceiba tree iconic designs are clear. Thus a rare example of the type in old-toned unflawed Very Fine; pedigreed to the Quigley collection who bought it for $50 from Hans Schulman in 1963.
Estimate: 300-500 USD
