George VI Proof 5 Shillings 1950 PR66 NGC, KM40.1. At first glance, this piece is awash in champagne tone but upon rotation the peripheries are ablaze in red and blue highlights that lighten dramatically into a golden halo that surrounds the head of George VI. A similar example in PR65 sold in our New York auction earlier this year for $1175 and this example is equally beautiful, if not more visually satiating. Ex. Pittman.
