Ferdinand VII Puerto Cabello counterstamp over 1/4R 1816 C, Choice Very Fine, KM-C2 (Base coin), Stohr-RI21. A scarce and official necessity issue, made in the sieged city of Puerto Cabello during the closing period of the Venezuelan War of Independence: by act of June 25, 1822, Mariano Sixto requested to take measures to ensure the acceptance of the copper royalist coinage in the city, since the limited amounts of coins remitted by Cuba and Puerto Rico were hardly significant to cover the needs of circulating media. Becoming quite challenging to locate in this attractive condition and historically important.
