When imperfect notes are detected during the manufacturing process after the serial numbers have been overprinted, they must be replaced with new notes. These « starnotes » are used to replace the imperfect notes. The starnotes have theyr own special serial numbers followed by a star in place of a suffix letter. The serial numbers of the original notes that were removed are not used again in the same numbering sequence.
