Hampshire. Southampton brass Farthing (1/4 Penny) Token 1789 MS63 NGC, DH-116. E: ///. Listed as gilt by NGC, but more likely brass with some coppery tone at the edges. A wonderful leftward facing portrait type of George III with much retained gleam atop the surfaces. Very rare (apparently on three traced) and accompanied by a 1923 sales ticket that lists the present as a "brilliant gilt proof".Ex. Cokayne Collection
