Harthacnut (1040-42), Penny, 1.06g, arm and sceptre type in the name of Harthacnut, Lincoln, Osferth, draped, diademed bust left holding trefoil tipped sceptre before, +harÐcnvt r, n and u ligate rev. osferÐ on linco, lozenge with incurved sides, pellet on tips, all around central pellet, over voided short cross (Mossop Pl. LXIV, 24 - same dies; N.811; S.1168), a detector find with the usual scuffs, evidence of straightening between 11 o'clock and 3 o'clock, very full and well-centred piece with a deep tone, very fine, very rare in Harthacnut's own name.
