Aethelred II (978-1016), Penny, 1.59g, first hand type, Canterbury, Leofric, diademed bust right, rev. + leofric m¯o caent, hand issuing from cloud dividing alpha and omega (N.766; S.1144), dark, slightly dappled tone, reminiscent of the Ipswich buttermarket hoard pieces so possibly exposed to fire, well centred, full and round, very fine.
