Elizabeth I, sixth issue, fine sovereign, mm. escallop (1584-6), crowned figure of queen enthroned facing, holding orb and sceptre, portcullis at feet, rev. shield of arms at centre of full-blown rose, wt. 15.18gms. (S.2529; N.2003; B&C. bust A18A), lightly cleaned, about very fine, with old tickets *ex Stacks, 5 October 1963, lot 2400 ex Spink/Taisei 23 October 1991, lot 352 ex Spink Numismatic Circular, June 2006 The back of the throne is decorated with pellets in annulets - a hitherto unpublished variety.
