Northeast Gaul. Ambiani. c. 60-50 BC. Stater (Gold, 15mm, 6.18 g), struck during Caesar's Gallic Wars, Gallo-Belgic Type E. Blank convex surface, with traces of design around the edges. Rev. Disjointed horse to right, with crescent below and pellets around. ABC 16. DT 239. S 11. VA 52/4. Clear and well struck. About extremely fine.

This is a type that is commonly found in Britain and formed part of the coinage supply of the island, prior to the more considerable local issues.
