Thessaly
Trikka, c. 440-400 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 16mm, 2.87 g 2). Youthful hero, Thessalos, nude but for cloak and petasos hanging over his shoulder, striding right, holding a band in both his hands around the head of the forepart of a bull moving right. Rev. Τ-ΡΙ-ΚΚ-Α-ΙΟΝ (retrograde, starting on the right at 3) Forepart of bridled horse to right, his head turned very slightly to front; all within very shallow incuse circle. Cf. Traité IV, 546. A very rare legend variant, not in BCD. Attractive and of good style. Extremely fine.
