Lokris Opuntii, c. 382-356 BC. Triobol (Silver, 14mm, 2.89 g 6). Head of Persephone to right, wearing grain wreath and pendant earring. Rev. ΟΠΟΝ - ΤΙΩΝ Ajax, nude, advancing to right, holding sword in his right hand and shield with his left; interior of shield adorned with serpent; below, spear and crested helmet to left. BCD 46. SNG Copenhagen 49. A very elegant, rare and nicely toned example of the first issue of Lokrian triobols; better than any in BCD. Extremely fine.
