Attica

Athens, c. 440s-430s BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 22mm, 17.22 g 7). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet adorned with three olive leaves and palmette, round earring and pearl necklace. Rev. ΑΘΕ Owl standing to right, head facing the viewer; to left, olive sprig and crescent moon; all within incuse square. Agora 8. Dewing 1596 ff. Svoronos pl. 13, 21 ff. A splendid, fresh example, very well struck and of fine style. Very slightly tight flan and tiny fault on the reverse, otherwise, good extremely fine.
