Marcus Aurelius Caesar, 139-161, Philippopolis. Diassarion (Bronze, 22mm, 8.46 g 7), later 150s. Μ ΑVΡΗΛΙΟC ΟVΗΡΟC ΚΑΙCΑΡ Bare head of Marcus Aurelius to right, with neat beard. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ Apollo, nude but for cloak over his left shoulder, standing left, holding a laurel branch in his right hand and resting his left at his waist in his cloak. Varbanov - (but cf.. 807). An absolutely splendid piece, perfectly and sharply struck with an elegant portrait, a beautiful reverse, and a fine dark green patina. Good extremely fine.
