Caracalla, 198-217, Philippopolis. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 27mm, 16.84 g 12), c. 212. ΑΥΤ Κ Μ ΑΥΡΗ ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟC Laureate bust of Caracalla to right, his chest heroically bare but with drapery on his far shoulder. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ Ares standing to left, nude but for his helmet, with his right hand held in a fist and holding a spear and shield in his left. Varbanov 1528. Attractive and with a nice dark green patina. Some traces of smoothing, otherwise, good very fine or better.
