Leontinoi, c. 450-440 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24mm, 17.16 g 6). Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. ΛΕΟΝΤΙ-ΝΟ-Ν Head of a lion with open jaws to right; around, four barley grains. Basel 349. Boehringer, Münzgeschichte 38. Rizzo pl. XXIII, 4. SNG ANS 225-227. A superb, toned example of splendid early classical style, very well centered and struck. Good extremely fine.
