The end of the Peloponnesian War fostered the creation of new coinage in Greece. For many coinages were chosen portraits of gods: Helios for Rhodes, Heracles for Kos , Apollo at Miletos, etc.. For the reverses were, however, chosen emblems attached to the main worship such as the rose for Rhodes or the stag for Ephesos. Just for the city of Caria, these symbols remained for many centuries like effigies of the city as Athena and the owl for Athens or Athena and Pegasos for Corinth.
