Nero (54-68), Sestertius, Lugdunum, AD 66; AE (g 29,20; mm 36; h 7); IMP NERO CAESAR AVG PONT MAX TR POT P P, laureate head r., globe at point of bust, Rv. Nero standing l. on low platform with praetorian prefect at his side, raising r. hand in address to three soldiers, of whom the two in front carry standards; in the background, the praetorian camp; in field, S - C; in ex. ADLOCVT COH. RIC 490; C -.
Very rare, fine portrait and detailed reverse, brownish patina, minor lack of metal on reverse, anyway good extremely fine.
Restoration and cleaning report: this Sestertius of Nero came to my attention with a green patina which showed morphological characteristics and crystallization due to repatination. Under stereoscopic magnification (100X) was mechanically removed this layer, showing an original dark-brownish patina with scattered cup rite crystal son both sides of the coin.
Completing the cleaning of the reverse, I observed the reparation of a corrosion
with epoxy material, corrosion due to a cup rite formation of cup rite place on the right side of the field. I believe that this accurate cleaning operation returned the coin to its delicate and refined definition.
