18th century Venetian Valentine Gift. Beautiful 18th century hartshaped filigree love token, made from gilded silver by the Venetian silversmith R. Mendoza. Crowned double-headed eagle (most likely the Coat of Arms of the House of Habsburg) above vase with foliage. On the eagles chest engraved: E• / M• RITA / A.O. 1798. / hallmark. This token was once covered with precious gemstones, but unfortunately these are missing. Included in this lot is the original damask case, which is lined with velvet and silk.
