COMMEMORATIVE MEDALS, WORLD MEDALS, FRANCE, Henri de la Tour d'Auvergne, Vicomte Turenne (1611-1675), Re-burial in Paris, Bronze Medal, 1800, by H Auguste, uniformed bust of Turenne left, rev nine-line inscription, 50mm (Bramsen 71; Julius 849). Good very fine.
Turenne's body was transferred to Les Invalides on the orders of Napoleon Bonaparte. His tomb was completed in 1802 under the direction of Lucian Bonaparte, brother of Napoleon.
