Obolus, Celes type / Obol, typ Celes, 1,02 g, 9 mm, Ag, nepublikováno
Head to left / Standing rooster to right, rosette at left, stylized text CΔIES on the right side
Good VF, Obol of "Celes" type is known in a few pieces sold in numismatic auctions, but all of these coins are of different variety with other head on reverse. This coin hasn't been expertly evaluated and we still don't know its place of origin. It is very likely that it is a Boii coin. Absolutely unique is the obverse - pattern for this coin is bronze coin campanian town Cales (265 - 240 BC). This strike is important basis for the beginning of the Boii coinage and at the same time one of the oldest evidence of character usage on celtic coins. For these reasons are these coins very valuable.,
