Inca Stone Conopa. A choice Inca stone conopa from Peru, ca. 1300 – 1500 AD. It is 3" long and is carved from a black stone that has a wide quartz vein running through it, which the artist used to mimic the soft fur that covers the chest of vicunas. It has a deep cavity, thin walls and is nicely detailed, even showing the animal's tail in high relief. Intact, good mineral deposits. Ex Historia Gallery.
