LE MONDE ARABE
THE ABBASID DYNASTY, AH 132-656 (750-1258).
4,20g. A - (cf. 222.14A) ; Bernardi 51.
Superbe.
Only two examples recorded, extremely rare. By this time practically all other dinars had either the additional legend "lillah" ("for God") in the reverse field, a provincial name in the obverse field and/or the name of a governor of Egypt. Where this coin was actually struck in unknown, but the elegance of its execution suggests that it was struck at the mint of the Abbasid capital, Madinat al-Salam.
