This handstruck coin is an interesting Indian imitation of the gold mohurs issued by the East India Company for the Bengal Presidency. These coins were issued in the name of Shah Alam II (1759-1806) and bore the name of the Murshidabad workshop, as well as the frozen regnal year 19. This imitation was probably struck between 1790 and 1835, when the gold mohurs of the East India Company were widely used.
