CHINA--EMPIRE. Ch'ing Dynasty. 100,000 cash, Yr. 8 (1858). P-A8b.
(S/M#T6-55) One of the highlights of this important offering of rare currency, and the highest denomination produced for this popular Cash note series. These 100,000 Cash notes have been advertised by collectors and authorities in the field to be even more rare than the Board of Revenue 50 Tael notes. This offering marks the first time we have seen or handled the denomination, an opportunity that will not likely be replicated in the near future. Auction records for this rare catalog number are sparse, and those we found were several years old with the most recent being a 2011 public sale where a significantly less appealing note brought $30,000. The quality of this offering cannot be understated, with the note retaining appeal that would rival an Extremely Fine note. Clear devices throughout the impression are highlighted in a deep blue color, and appealing hand stamps are noted as well. The note shares similar traits to the 50,000 Cash we are offering with similar stain at lower right and a few minor holes in the same vicinity. Otherwise, the note is stunning and will grab the attention of all collectors who admire China notes from this time period. PCGS Very Fine 30 Apparent. Minor Stain and Small Hole at Bottom Right.

Estimate: $30000.00- $50000.00
