CHINA--REPUBLIC. China & South Sea Bank Limited. 1 Yuan, 1927. P-A126a.
(S/M#C295-20a) Shanghai. Vertical format. Three female busts at upper center and Yuan Shi-kai Dollar coin below. A scarce note in any state of preservation and rare in Extremely Fine or better grades. This brilliant offering is by and large the finest we have seen or offered. This Waterlow and Sons produced note retains fresh original paper throughout along with marvelous color. A quick look at the PMG population report confirms the rarity at this grade level; this note being the only piece at the Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ level, with none finer. A single other note is found in the Uncirculated range which garnered a less appealing Choice Uncirculated 64 level without the important "EPQ" designation. The last we sold of this catalog number was a PMG Very Fine 30 note which realized $2,330.25 as lot 22029 in our April 2013 Hong Kong sale. The Gem note offered here will certainly captivate collectors. PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.

Estimate: $6000.00- $8000.00
