ISLAMIC COINS, GREAT SELJUQ, Tughril Beg (429-455h), Silver Dirham, struck from fine silver, Fasa 454h, obv field al-Qa'im bi-amr Allah/Fakhr al-muluk, mint name and date in margin, rev field Sultan al-mu'azzam Tughril Beg, 5.33g (A T1666, unrecorded). Fine and extremely rare.
Album records only one fine silver Dirham struck in the name of Tughril Beg, at the Shiraz mint dated 447h. This artistically pleasing coin, which has seen heavy circulation, is only the second of its kind recorded in Tughril Beg's name. It was probably a donative issue.
Estimate: £400-500
