SICILY, Syracuse. Hieron I. 478-466 BC. AR Obol (9.5mm, 0.49 g, 11h). Struck circa 470-466 BC. Head of Arethousa right, wearing olive wreath / Wheel of four spokes; ΣVRA within quarters. Sult pl. 1, 5–6; Boehringer Series XIIe, – (V207/R279E – unlisted die combination); HGC 2, 1372; SNG ANS 124 (same obv. die); SNG Lloyd 1166 = Traité I 2260 (same rev. die). EF, attractive old cabinet tone. Fine style. A rare obol from the famed Demareteion issue.
